Cleaning up the Queue: Taking the Virtual Walk of Shame

Hello. My name is Megan and I am a procrastinator. It’s not that I am intentionally putting off writing my blog or am getting bored with it. It’s not that I stopped watching movies or TV (I am, though not as much as I had before).  Heck, it’s not even that I’m suddenly disillusioned by what I’m viewing (though, in all honesty, quite a bit of it is crap). Nope, it’s that lately, I’ve decided that I really *need* sleep. And that every living being in my house is out to make sure I don’t get it.

Sigh. Week three (or is it four?) of the 2012 internet crisis in my home. We’ve been struggling for what seems like eons without reliable internet connection. The nights are so long and I don’t know how much longer we can go on like this. It seems as there is no end in sight. We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of a new modem (which is supposed to be here possibly today) and are keeping our hopes high that it will actually rectify the situation. Only time will tell.

So, I’ve been wondering—is there any decent internet provider out there? We switched a few months ago from our cable internet to a different service because the service kept dropping out for no apparent reason. We did all the troubleshooting and bug fixes, but eventually opted to switch services. Now, a few months into the new provider, we are still having internet issues. Lately it has been unreliable internet. Every few minutes, the connection drops out then slowly comes back on again. Grrr. It’s more than a little irritating. It’s also made me avoid going online whenever possible to avoid the frustration it will inevitably cause. Today I will try to keep my patience in check long enough to provide a rundown of new releases on Netflix. Fingers crossed.

After the Oscars on Sunday, I thought I would take a break from movies for a while—after all, there are only so many self-congratulatory, smug stars a gal can take each week and I certainly met my quota during that awards show. However, looking over the new releases on Netflix I may end my short-lived fast of films. Doh.

Hello and happy Presidents’ Day! If you are lucky and have the day off, I hope you enjoy it and make the most of your three day weekend. However, if—like my husband—your nose is to the grindstone today, I wish you a productive workday. New releases don’t take a holiday, so I thought I would run down what is out this week on Netflix.

Netflix must love me. It’s giving me a whole slew of new releases for Valentine’s Day tomorrow! Yeah, some people may want flowers or chocolates for Valentine’s Day, but I am content with a few more options for my queue (although I wouldn’t complain if I also got chocolates and flowers).

I’d like to say that today I am recuperating from a wild party Sunday or that I am still on some emotional high after watching the big game. But I’m not. Yes, I watched them toss around the old pigskin on TV yesterday, but I just had a hard time getting into it. I know, it doesn’t make sense since it was a close game, but everything about the “big event” yesterday was just kind of “blah.” Few commercials caught my eye and I spent half time watching recaps of previous year’s Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet (the highlight of the evening).

I have to admit, I don’t feel like writing today. I’m tired, unmotivated, and just plain spacey. Each letter I push on the keyboard feels like a struggle. My brain feels like it is wrapped in layers of cotton, making my thoughts difficult to put to paper. However, I am going to trudge forward and power through Netflix’s new releases of the week.

Well, it’s a rainy Monday here in Southern California. While it’s likely an unpopular view, I kind of like it. There’s just something about the sound of the rain drops hitting the roof that makes me just want to cuddle up to read or write. Often, I will take opportunity of a chilly, dreary day to do some baking—both to warm the house and the soul. Later today, I will be baking (probably lemon cupcakes) but right now I thought I would see what the new releases are on Netflix this week.

I kind of expected this week to be a “small release week” for DVDs. The holidays are over and it seems to be a slow time in the theaters. Not so, apparently for the Digital Versatile Disc (yeah, I assumed it was Digital Video Disc too, but Wikipedia informs me otherwise…). And so, I am going to just jump right into the new releases and try to plow through them—all while only adding a minimal amount to my queue.
