What’s Up with me: summer 2013 edition

I’ve had a busy summer—filled with highs and lows. I was able to go back to the Midwest and visit my family and watching my daughter play with her cousins on my dad’s farm was definitely a high point. It was so amazing to see her chubby little legs carry her around the immense yard. Even more amazing was watching her play in the rain and splash in puddles (we don’t get much rain in the desert).

Taking the first steps…

Front Room Panorama

Once again, life has been busy and I know this post has been a week in coming. In fact, it may not have even come at all; but I talked to my mom on the phone last night and she asked when I was going to post pictures of my front room. I was called out and now I’m posting my clutter.

I did it! (kinda)

Well, I think I may have accomplished my goal. Maybe, sort of. Last week, I said I wanted to write a blog post every week day for a week–totaling five entries. Somehow I both accomplished and didn’t accomplish this.

C is for Cookie (that’s good enough for me)

I’m a cookie fanatic. I’ve always had a sweet tooth, but lately I am all about the chocolate chip cookie. And if peanut butter is added, that just makes me even more a fan. Yesterday, I decided to try a new recipe….

PBOatmeal Cookies

Well, I already missed a post yesterday. I blame Game of Thrones. I just *had* to watch the season finale (a day late, I know).  And, in my house at least, a Game of Thrones viewing is a serious affair. The lights are dimmed, all electronic devices are turned off, and the TV commands our full attention.  And so we watched.

I don’t want to write a post today….

There. I said it. I don’t particularly feel like writing a post today. My soft, warm bed is beckoning to me. It says, “Come on, Meg, forget about that blog and just close your eyes. You know you want to.” And I do want to. However, I said yesterday that I would take baby steps to get more done in my life–and the first mini-goal I made was to write a blog post every week day for five days. Here I go.

Running in Mud: the Story of Me

I’ve always had a little problem with procrastination. Yeah, I’m diligent about getting things done by their deadline (and I would *never* ask for an extension), but I still waited until the last minute before I did them. I’m not sure why this was/is, as I don’t exactly enjoy the stressed out feeling associated with a pressing deadline. Every time I was burning the midnight oil (often literally working into the night), I would tell myself “never again.” But I did it again. And again. And am still doing it.

New to Netflix 4/23 (& a few weeks prior)

So I know, I know–you’ve been neglecting your Netflix queue. I don’t blame you. I mean, Game of Thrones is on and we *all* want to know when that jerk Joffrey is going down (he has to, right?) and I can’t wait for Aria to kick ass (also inevitable). That’s cool. I’m sure Netflix understands. However, if you want to give your queue some love, here are a few titles that may be worth a look-see.

It’s a sad Netflix day in my home

Today is the day I made a tough decision. I’ve decided to cut back my Netflix subscription from the two-at-a-time plan to the the single disc at a time plan. I really don’t know why I haven’t done this sooner as I don’t get through my DVDs as fast as I used to.

How much “I” is tmi?

I’ve always been a private person. I don’t readily spill my guts to random people. I tend to keep tight-lipped about my accomplishments (who likes a braggart?). Even in conversations, I’m more of a listener than a talker. In spite of my tendency towards privacy, I write. And I write on perhaps the most public of forums, the internet. Strange, right?
