The Muppets (2011)


I don’t see many movies in the theaters. Mostly because I’ve grown to strongly dislike—nay, almost loathe—the movie-going experience. From rude audience members who somehow deem it necessary to talk or text during the film to outrageous ticket prices, I just don’t find myself heading down to the ol’ cinemaplex like I used to. However, I do have one particular theater that I absolutely love: the one in my home town.

Day 32: Jim Henson’s the Storyteller: The Greek Myths (1991)


“You remind me of the babe. What babe? The babe with the power. What power? Power of voodoo. Who do? You do. Do what? Remind me of the babe.” Ah, Labyrinth—the quintessential Jim Henson Production. The perfect blend of fantasy, puppetry, 80s hair, spandex, and childhood whimsy. I have practically the whole film memorized—on a good day, this includes choreography—and remember with fondness the first time I saw this at the old movie theater in my hometown. Sure, I questioned David Bowie’s hair, but who didn’t? Besides the film had a talking caterpillar and a dog knight who had a dog for a mount. Memories.
